In August 2021 the new Mittelstand-Digital Zentrums Kaiserslautern has started working to support SMEs in Rhineland-Palatinate with a holistic approach to digitization. The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Kaiserslautern is a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) and continues the successful work of the SME 4.0 Competence Center Kaiserslautern (Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrums Kaiserslautern) during the last five years.
Today, there can be seen a high willingness in SMEs in Rhineland-Palatinate to deal with digital transformation. However, SMEs in the region still have a high need for support in this context, especially when it comes to new, innovative aspects like shared production, sharing economy, sustainable digitization and artificial intelligence. Here, SMEs are still in need of (scientific) expert knowledge.
The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Kaiserslautern is able to bring these new and innovative aspects to bear in regional SMEs with the help of an experienced team of experts with state-of-the-art scientific expertise. During the next three years, the project will offer holistic support for digitization in areas such as manufacturing and engineering, strategy and innovation, new work, sustainability and sharing economy. There will be new innovative events such as hackathons, digitization fairs featuring interactive exhibitions of digital prototypes, sharing economy workshops and artificial intelligence projects in SMEs. One main focus will be on connected digital value creation bringing regional SMEs together to strengthen the local competitiveness and sustainability.
Nachhaltigkeit und Vernetzung als neue Schwerpunkte
Das Projektteam des Mittelstand-Digital Zentrums Kaiserslautern wird in den nächsten drei Jahren umfangreiche Unterstützungsangebote zu wichtigen Themen der Digitalisierung anbieten: darunter Produktion & Entwicklung, Strategie & Innovation, Arbeit & Organisation sowie Nachhaltigkeit und Sharing Economy. Natürlich können sich mittelständische Unternehmen auf interessante Vorträge, Workshops und projektbezogene Unterstützung zu Themen der Künstlichen Intelligenz freuen. Darüber hinaus werden den rheinland-pfälzischen Mittelständlern zahlreiche neue Angebotsformate wie Hackathons, Digitalisierungsparcours und Vernetzungswerkstätten zur Verfügung stehen. Durch die Arbeit des Mittelstand-Digital Zentrums Kaiserslautern soll sich Rheinland-Pfalz zu einer Vorzeigeregion für die vernetzte digitale Transformation entwickeln – der Fokus liegt hierbei insbesondere auf dem produzierenden Sektor.
