The project ‘Smart collaborative workflow development in the footwear industry - MELLOW’ was launched on 1 January 2025. It is funded as part of the ‘Future of Work’ programme by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Union via the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) and is managed by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA).

International cooperation, diverse processes and digital interfaces are making workflows more complex, challenging companies to ensure product quality and social standards in production networks. MELLOW focusses on the German footwear industry as part of global value-creating networks. The aim is to improve the quality of work, processes and products in international production networks in two use cases by developing and implementing a digital assistant equipped with sensors and AI.
